Connect a domain you already own to a Siteboon website. You need access to that domain's DNS settings. Connecting it publishes the site's saved content, so review your pages and posts first.

Enter your domain

  1. Open the site and select the gear icon labelled Site Settings.
  2. Open the Domain tab. It is the second tab in Site Settings.
  3. Select Use a domain I own.
  4. Enter the domain or subdomain, such as example.com or www.example.com. Do not include https:// or a page path.
  5. After reviewing the site's saved changes, select Connect and publish.
Domain settings with Use a domain I own, a domain input, and Connect and publish. Get a new domain is a separate option.
Use the existing-domain option when you already own the address.

Copy the DNS record shown by Siteboon

  1. In the connected domain's settings, expand DNS record if necessary.
  2. Copy its Type, Host, and Value.
  3. At the provider that manages your domain's DNS, add or update the website record to match those values.

The record depends on the address: a root domain can require an A record, while a subdomain uses a CNAME. Follow Siteboon's displayed record rather than reusing another site's target. Leave unrelated email records in place.

For a domain using Cloudflare DNS, follow Cloudflare's record editing instructions. Other providers place these controls in their DNS or zone settings.

Check the connection

  1. Return to Siteboon's Domain tab and select Check again.
  2. If the status still says DNS setup needed, compare the saved DNS record with the displayed requirement. DNS updates may need time to take effect.
  3. Open the public domain in a new tab and check the home page and its links.

Publish later changes

After the domain is connected, use Publish your website to update its content. Saving a page in the editor does not publish it automatically.
